Design Process
Designing the future of collaborative learning in virtual spaces
My overarching intention with this project was to simultaneously investigate the possibilities of mixing virtual reality and actual reality while seeking multiple possible solutions to the address the communication and technology gap between disparate audiences. I used a three phased approach. Phase one addressed those who are unfamiliar with virtual reality technologies and helped them overcome their fears. Phase two brought advanced VR users in contact with real life people and encounters through an interface that is familiar to them in an effort to promote dual-mode interaction (real and virtual). Phase three integrated these two solutions into an immersive classroom environment that will allow each audience to participate using their preferred mode.
