The Surface Development Test: A Cognitive Analysis

For the term project in Human Cognitive Abilities, Winter 2007, I analyzed the surface development test (one of the French Kit tests) to determine which cognitive abilities it tests. This final paper is a synthesis of information from Carroll, a task analysis of two items from the surface development test, and results of four subjects' think aloud protocols while completing four items from the test. Overall, this class challenged my notion of what encompasses intelligence and made clear the difficulty of creating tests that accurately measure what they claim to measure.
