bullet3 MS Excel

What is it?

Microsoft Excel is one of the most widely used spreadsheet programs, allowing users to enter formulas, create charts and graphs, and design macros.

Where do I find it?

Microsoft Excel is part of the Microsoft Office suite, often pre-installed on new computers. Resources for teachers and students are available at:   www.microsoft.com/education/product/cdoffer.asp

There are some terrific examples of the use of Excel. An in-depth problem-based math unit for Middle School Algebra and general 8th grade math classes has been developed by David Foster, mathematics director for the Noyce Foundation. His unit is called  Home Improvement  (82KB self-extracting zip file).

The Math Forum  also has a large collection of example lessons and activities that use spreadsheets.
