About the speech

After 9 weeks of Mandarin lessons in Conversational Chinese, Professor Yu-Hwa L Rozelle challenged us to prepare a short introduction for our final exam. I combined simple phrases and vocabularly to create this short presentation. In the speech I say my chinese name given to me by my professor which is 'An Jie Er' meaning "so outstanding." It sounds the way a Chinese person might pronounce Angel.

I also play this great bamboo flute a friend bought for me when I was in China. Its hand-made and has a reedy, unstable sound.

I really love this class. My professor is outstanding and I get lots of help from my Taiwanese roomate Jessica Chuang. Being a musician and having such wonderful teachers makes it a joy to learn.

The picture was taken on a cruise unrelated to this class.
