Game Review: Earthquake in Zipland

I played the demo version of this game called Earthquake in Zipland to teach kids how to cope with divorce. The main character is this child moose that tries to repair a rift between his parent's islands caused by an earthquake. He collects quests in his journal as he completes activities that he thinks will bring them back together at first. You might need to read the walkthrough to get past some tricky parts of the game. The game was deisnged by Zipland Interactive in 2002 by two clinical psychologists.

Unique features:
  • Adventure style game where kids connect objects in inventory to items explored in the world

  • Includes a journal so kids can reflect on their feelings, rewards use of journal with collectibles

  • Has a professional version for counselors to tweak the game

Some of the posts in the community forum indicate the game has been helpful to children. I think the concept is genuine and could be a great addition to therapy.
