Tipping Point

I'm listening to the Tipping Point by Malcom Gladwell. I'm fascinated by the power of the message and why its particularly difficult for humans to understand.

It's giving me an interesting perspective on how to teach people about virus epidemics. I'm currently listening to a microbiologist describing the impactof the bird flu. She basically reports that every century there are 3 pandemics. People were predicting the flu would break out this winter, but it hasn't.

How do you prepare for something when you don't believe it could happen?
