Crazy Game Idea 1:The Maude Squad

Everyday I aim to post crazy game ideas that I get from living and studying. Each idea will have a premise which is a 2-3 sentence elevator pitch of the game, interesting features and the purpose. This is a way to start mining my ideas for my masters project and STS299 final.

Premise: Break free from Adult Day Care playing as Maude, Paul, Cleo, and Hum in this third-person action-adventure game. Their mission is to get a job working at a sports car factory. The only trouble is Maude is mute and mobility constrained, Paul is blind, Cleo has a learning disability and Hum, well he's deaf. The car factory is the only job in town. So if they fail, it's back to mind-numbing confines of Adult Day Care.

Features:
  • Overcome 8 levels; two are set in the adult day care center and six are set in the real world outside it's bounds

  • Get encased in the world from the perspective of each character; levels are dark, soundless or marked with patterns that imaginatively convey what each player actually perceives

  • Dynamically swap between characters. Choose any of the four characters to play and learn their disabilities individually or in a group

  • Discover each character's unique and humorous personality as you match them up against obstacles everywhere

  • Rank up to earn support devices you can purchase for your characters

  • Discover an engaging story as you learn how each character came to be in Adult Day Care and what living free really means

Why make this game: Many games cast the player as a superhero. This game features people who are "un-super" and evolves them into heroes. People with disabilities are everyday heroes who overcome a world full of obstacles usually taken for granted. Hopefully players come away with an appreciation for diversity and an awareness of the ten percent of Americans it's about time we get to know.
