Game Review: Hulk

I'm playing Hulk now. It's an incredible game highly addictive and instantly immersive. The story is weaved into the levels nicely. Things the game does well: levels are totally destrucible. You can take down buildings, turn antennaes into weapons, break cars in half. My favorite is scaling walls and running up buildings. When you leap you get this feeling of bounding through the air. It also has this way of making everything feel reactive to you. If you destroy a helicopter you can pick up it's hull. Brush buildings they dent, touch cars they move, people run, animals run. It's hilarious. My favorite was picking up a cow and throwing it at someone. It make me laugh out loud. I do feel sorry for the little people, but I think the size advantage gets quickly reversed as you level.

The world is your weapon is a great tag line of this game. It's getting high ratings.

Gems I would mine from this game:
- destructible environments
- very responsive juicy effects
- unique abilities different than anything you've experience that give you a new feeling
- good minigames called challenges to build skills
- threat meter that alerts enemies

I think the threat meter is a great way to integrate minigames or bosses. For these reviews I play one or two levels so I can get a sense of the mechanics and dynamics.
