Designing for Parents and Kids

We are are designing a two-player cooperative adventure game for kids. It just occured to me that it might be a parent and a child playing together. I saw this article that indicated 35% of parents play video games and half the time they are playing right along with their kids. On gamerdad.com you can see reviews of games from a parents perspective. The implications are that the humor and puzzles should appeal to adults as well. Parents play because it allows them to bond with their kids. This is all very intersting as we head into designing Shrek 3.
