Game Review: Tekken 5

Tekken 5 (2005) by Namco games was the first console fighting game I played in years. I was a big fan of street fighter. My sister and I would play against each other discovering cool tricks through random button mashing on our Nintendo. Tekken 5 on the PS2 is all grown up with battle training, story mode, arcada mode and even a action-adventure mode were you get to run through a maze of levels. The graphics are impressive, full color animations of fight moves and scripted camera movements add a level of Hollywood glamour to the game. What attracted me to the game was the bonsu action-adventure game. Dominating a rank of fighters didn't motivate me despite the story that was designed to hold it together. On the other hand, the idea of using all of these cool moves to find a carrot was more attractive. In the end however the small game didn't allow you to use the full range of moves, the levels were pretty basic and you were essential running through a warehouse looking for bigger and bigger dudes to fight. The platform game was designed just to be an extra of what was overall a very solid fighting game. Read IGN review
