Puzzle Pirates - Why it's fun

I just love this concept. Originally I was really nervous with the concept of meeting people online. I thought "These people must be freaks to assume characters and chat with one another." Okay so I haven't quit my job or anything playing this game but I have found it fun. I totally agree with Novak's statement that players like to become attached to their characters before facing a problem. I found it scary when after registration I was put on a boat and someone started talking to me. I just exited and returned to the main island. On the main island, I walked around and gave myself a tour. I saw all the stuff I could buy in the shops and read fan forums. People really get into their characters. They create fan art. They build websites. They meet in person for pirate parties. What makes this site succesful I believe is the feeling of tangible rewards, a good story that is reinforced everywhere, and the potential for frienships, "hearties." Maybe down the road I'll become a great pirate. Look for me online, I'm missanglerby.
