First Post

I designed this blog to capture my lessons learned from gaming this year. I work with the IBM Center for Advanced Learning as a systems designer. I have a particular interest in gaming because of its immersive qualities that create environments for learning. This year I am taking a course with Montgomery College on game design. See studygaming.com for a description of this course. As a hobby I'm also teaching an 8-year-old about gaming. We are building a platform game together using GameMaker. It's an interesting exercise to see how simple you can make something while keeping the process fun and motivating. I'm particularly proud of this work so you'll be hearing lots about it. In addition to teaching, I actually create my own games too. So provided time I'll actually discuss new and old work here too.
