Assessments

User Testing
We tested Stick With It! on three teen users, one male and two female. We employed the “think out loud” method where they talked about both the content and the user interface as they went through the site. We kept close notes of the teens’ comments. Overall, their feedback was very positive. They especially liked the combining of technologies and how deep the content was. A sampling of their comments can be seen in the quotes in our PowerPoint presentation

Additionally, we sent the site to a teacher who had three of her colleagues write feedback. She also offered it to five students as extra credit - four female, one male – and asked them to provide written feedback on the following questions:

Does it make sense?
Is the navigation clear?
Would you or your friends use something like this?
Why or why not?
What do you like about it?
What do you think we should change?
Any other comments....

The crucial thing we learned from the user testing was that the introductory page we designed for Stick With It! was not sufficient in introducing what the site was about. Based on this feedback, we completely redesigned the Stick With It! homepage and included user scenarios to provide better detail about how the site could be used.

Another issue that we had anticipated and was confirmed by some of the feedback we received – the concern with how to keep students motivated through the process. Currently, the site is very content heavy. In future generations, we would partner with companies and organizations that are doing more interactive content with various kinds of media delivery, for instance, Ripple Effect’s product “Relate to Teens”.

Learner Assessment

We are in the process of conducting our learner assessments. We are working with four teens who have agreed to answer a pre- and post-survey, follow the website content on a particular area, and receive phone calls for two nights in a row with messages they recorded for themselves.

We will include the learning assessment write-up once it is completed.
