One of the many benefits of the LDT program was the ability to build my schedule around my interests. I became very interested in college access issues as a result of my internship at College Track and therefore took Educ 417X: Research and Policy on Postsecondary Access. Maria Millard and I designed a hypothetical school based on a combination of educational theory and opportunity. The goal was to encourage college opportunities through community service learning for low-income high-school students on college campuses. We named this school The Ohana School, which is a Hawaiian word for "family." The final report can be found here. The school's brochure can be found here.
