About Cyber Bullying and Adina's Deck
Cyber Bullying is threating, harassing, humiliating or embarrassing someone by using the Internet, interactive and digital technologies or mobile phones.
Adinas Deck: The Exclusive Detective Agency Specializing in Solving Cyber Bully Mysteries, is a 30-minute film geared towards 9 to 14 year-olds. The series centers around four tech savvy girls who solve their peers cyber bullying mysteries.
Adina's Deck originated from research that was conducted at several SF Bay Area middle schools. Through this research, several learning problems were found: there is a significant knowledge gap between the concepts of virtual identity and real-life consequences. In the process over 30 middle school girls contributed to concepts used in the script.
The first production meeting was held in March of 2007 at Stanford University. From there, the production expanded and soon after, Adina's Deck was born.
Auditions were held at Stanford University, and over 150 kids and teens auditioned. There were over 300 submissions overall.

more information:
Cyber Bullies often have a complete lack of awareness of the seriousness of their actions. They get caught without realizing they have done something that could be traced back to them. Both Bullies and Victims often cannot go to their parents, teachers or counselors because they are not allowed to have MySpace pages and do not want to get in trouble. As a result this trend is continuing to increase.
Cyber bullying can result in deppression, anxiety and suicide. Additional Reading: Toughening Up on Cyber Bulling; and The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention: A Cyber Bully Victim
