Learner #3 Interview
This interview was conducted after Learner #3 interacted with the software. Learner #3 is here referred to as "3." The VizAbility interviewer is referred to as "V."
V: What’s your perception of how visual thinking is used in the modern world?
3: It’s always been used. If you see things, you learn better ways of expressing yourself.
V: How could you use visual thinking in your particular profession?
3: [I use] lots of visuals in my writing, mostly screen shots. To me, [text and visuals represent] two different ways of looking at the same thing.
V: Do you intend to change our personal or work environment based on what you saw in VizAbility? If so, in what specific ways? Would it have helped you to write those down in a persistent file?
3: I realized that people look at things in different ways. I could use the feedback from my peers. These are not things that I would have needed to wanted to write down.
V: In your profession, is sketching/ prototyping an important way of communicating you ideas? Do you think you would benefit from sketching more often?
3: Sketching is important. I spend a lot of time with diagrams.
V: Will you incorporate the stretching/ relaxing warm-up exercises into your daily routine? Why or why not?
3: Maybe . . . if I would do it it would be natural . . .
V: How relevant did you think the hidden pictures section was to your professional work? To your personal interests? To your perception of the world around you?
3: It was important! I liked it a lot. It’s not directly related to my work though.
V: How often do you use drawing to present concrete information to others?
3: Pretty often, but usually the engineers will give us drawings to use in our writing and we just make small modifications to them.
