You are invited to participate in a research study on the CD-ROM VizAbility, an educational software product from MetaDesign. You will be videotaped interacting with the software. Following your 1 hour session, you will be asked a few questions about what you learned from the CD-ROM. The purpose of the research is to understand what kinds of learning users take away from a session with this software. The ultimate product of the research will be suggestions for redesign of the CD-ROM. The videotape of your session will remain in the School of Education at Stanford. Some clips of the videotape may, with your consent (below), be included in our web report to the VizAbility design team or may be shown to graduate students at the Stanford School of Education.

This is not a test. The study will not attempt to assess your visual ability before, during, or after your interaction with the CD-ROM.

Risks and Benefits: There are no risks associated with the study. There may be the benefit of expanding your ability to think visually. :)

Subject’s Rights: Your participation is voluntary and you have the right to withdraw your consent or discontinue participation at any time without penalty. You have the right to refuse to answer particular questions. You will not be identified by name in any published or written data resulting from the study.
