REVISION OVERVIEW
A redesign of the VizAbility educational CD-ROM centers around revision of its website to include several new features. A rough prototype of this website can be viewed by following the link. Below are two lists of features for the website. The first represents relatively minor revisions, and the second includes features that would hearken a whole new generation product for the teaching of visual thinking.
Next Generation features represent a paradigm shift
The next generation features embody a new form of visual thinking that focuses on a visual community, whereas the CD-ROM focused on the individual. Instead of eliminating the CD-ROM, the next generation version of VizAbility will use the CD-ROM product as a launching point for users into a culture of visual thinking. Once users have interacted with the CD-ROM, VizAbility will no longer exist on the CD-ROM but will take new form on the World Wide Web.
Backed by educational theory
The design of each new feature we propose is grounded in educational theory, and a description of the theoretical perspective informing each list item is linked to its listing. Some of the features are prototyped, and where applicable, the feature description is linked to its prototype.
