Feature Theoretical Justification
1. Creation of a dynamic community of learners is possible over the web. Giving learners a mechanism for submitting work and soliciting feedback in real time allows learners to practice their ability to communicate ideas and generates a learning environment that is meaningful for individual learners. Theoretical perspectives on this design feature are drawn from situative theories of learning.
2. A discussion and chat forum where users can share their ideas and expereinces of the software and discuss how they see visual thinking relevant to their lives. Sociocultural theories on discourse and its impact on learning support this feature.
3. An assessment for new learners section of the website could direct new learners to analytical exercises on the CD based on their scores on various puzzles. Theoretical perspectives are drawn from psychometric evaluation theories.
