The
Learning Company
The Learning
Company is widely regarded as the pioneer in computer learning
software. The company was founded in 1979 by educational psychologist
Dr. Ann McCormick and the roots of the company were grounded
in educational theory. The Learning Company software programs
were evaluated by its team of educational authorities and
were extensitvely tested with children for their playful format
and learning value. The company strived to provide children
with software that teaches conceptual learning, logic and
problem solving. The Learning Company remained independently
operated until it was bought by Mattel, Inc.
in 1998.
