Needs Analysis and Information Architecture:

As a first step, MVP will perform a needs analysis of current and future site requirements.  From this analysis, MVP will develop the information architecture of the site.  This includes navigation, concept structure, and functional requirements such as databases, interactive forms, and so forth.

Site Structure Development

MVP will prototype the site with complete content for testing.

Usability and Content Testing:

MVP will run usability tests on the information architecture and content of the prototype site.  These tests will measure how well the intended audiences can quickly find the information they need, and whether the information is complete, useful, and compelling.  The tests will also determine whether the navigation scheme is effective.

Graphic Design:

MVP will develop three to four potential graphic treatments for the site, including home page layout and top level navigation.  One of these treatments may be selected by the client for further refinement or additional concepts may be requested.  MVP will then present revised concepts as well as concepts for the lower level navigation and layout.  Upon client approval, final art will be developed for the home page and sub-pages of the site.

Graphical Site Development:

After the graphics are developed, MVP will create a graphic template for each level by optimizing the graphics, breaking them up and putting them into HTML, and applying them to the text-only site.  Illustrative graphics and media elements will also be added to the site.  Interactivity will be added during this phase of the project.

Final Quality Assurance Testing and Site Release:

When the site is complete, MVP will do a final check for cross-platform and browser compatibility issues.  Epistemics will do a final review and sign off on the site.  The site will be registered with all appropriate search engines and directories.  Epistemics will provide appropriate key words and site descriptions.

Client Training and Site Maintenance:

MVP will train a designated person at Epistemics to maintain the site on an on-going basis.  Training will include updating the HTML and adding additional illustrative graphics.  Larger graphical changes, such as adding new sections, are generally more cost effectively done by the MVP staff.  MVP can provide maintenance services until such time as Epistemics can designate or hire in-house personnel to perform these tasks.  A style guide will be provided for each section of the site to help maintain the integrity of the site over time.
