There are several types of help available to you on this page:

Immediate LIVE assistance, please!

If you are stuck right now and need a live person to talk to, you have a few choices depending on the time of day.

The on-campus helpdesk is available during "normal business hours" (Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm). You can request help by filling out a HelpSU webform, or you can call ITSS helpdesk directly at
(650) 725-8181
.

Stanford Meyer Library has a team of multimedia consultants who are available to help, either at the library or via the phone at the Services Desk, 723-9407 during "office hours" (1-4pm, Mon-Fri).

If you're stuck after-hours, and you can't Phone-a-Friend, there is a pay-by-the-minute service from www.keen.com. This is not an endorsement of their service, but it looks like it could come in handy. You can pay by-the-minute from folks who are online, just waiting for someone to call for help. It's like an underground helpdesk, and costs $.90/minute to over $2.00/minute, depending on what the helpers think they can charge.

For example, you can look for Microsoft Office "experts", or more specifically folks who claim to have expertise in PowerPoint.

Web-Delivered Help @Stanford

If you are willing to do some exploring via the web on your own, you have some additional sources of help.

If you have a question about computing at Stanford, the Computing and Communication team have assembled a Help Page for your convenience.

You can also go to our STEP community forum and post a message. Hopefully some helpful person will respond and lend a hand!

Commercial Web Support

If you want specific help regarding a Microsoft Office product, you can check out their web support materials. For example, they provide Tips&Tricks, tutorials, and how-to articles on PowerPoint 2000.

Microsoft also provides specific info for educators in their Microsoft in Education site.

Adobe also offers a special Adobe in Education site, as well as general help for products you might be using, such as Adobe Photoshop.

If you have specific questions about Apple's iMovie, they offer web-based online discussions and tips.
